Lemvig Habour facilities were orginally buildt in 1851 as a pier by limited company owned by merchants from lemvig and farmers from the surrounding area.

In 1855-57 it was expanded into a municipal port for coastal traffic.

A fishing habour was built in 1903-07, which has since attracted the majority of the port activities.
